*Tarte is certified cruelty-free according to Ethical Elephant but Rimmel is NOT. Makeup Maven, Kayla, says: Tarte is $39 for 1.7 oz & Rimmel is 1 oz for about $5. Both of these foundations are full coverage and are very thick in consistency. I usually do not like full coverage foundations as I feel like they leave a cake like finish to your face however with these two I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked them. They are very thick, so blending out takes a bit longer than a thinner consistency foundation. They have a very mousse-like texture. I think Rimmel is slightly thicker than Tarte but despite this Rimmel felt much lighter on my face. Both products covered up my blemishes very well and didn't over dry my face nor did it make my face look cake like. I wore both foundations for about 12 hours while working and at the end of the day I didn't notice either foundation coming off except around my nose which gets oily by the end of the day and it is to be expected. I don't think I would wear either of these foundations in the summertime, just a personal preference. I think these are better used as a cold weather foundation. I think Rimmel is a great dupe for Tarte. If I was to repurchase any of the two I would repurchase the Rimmel. Definitely give Rimmel a try!

While I’ve used both foundations and have liked them both, i would not call them a dupe for one another.
