*According to Cruelty-Free Kitty, Jeffree Star is cruelty-free as is NYX. NYX's parent company, L'Oreal, is not cruelty-free. Makeup Maven, Kayla, found Jeffree Star Cosmetics in Legends Only for $18 for 4.5 ml and NYX in Fortune Cookie for $5 for 8 ml. Kayla says: Packaging wise these are very different. NYX comes in a small tube with a doe foot applicator. JSC comes in a very fancy unique component - it is Jeffree Star of course! The packaging is large, the top to the component is bulky and while it looks nice and unique this isn’t a gloss that you could throw in your back pocket. The applicator is a flat angled doe foot applicator. Both applicators work very well & distribute gloss evenly. Both products smell sweet but neither are overpowering and the smell dissipates once you apply. These are all over the internet as being color dupes & while both glosses are nude in color NYX is a bit darker & more opaque than JSC. Once on the lips, the colors look more alike. Legends Only would be a good gloss to put over lipstick or wear alone. NYX is a bit thicker in consistency compared to JSC which meant NYX lasted a lot longer on the lips. Neither was overly sticky on the lips. In the end, I would choose NYX over JSC simply because the packaging is more practical, it lasts longer on the lips & you get more product for much less money. NYX makes solid lip glosses - I’ve never been disappointed.
