Brandefy Review

*Both brands are cruelty-free according to Cruelty-Free Kitty. Makeup Maven, Kayla, says: Cover FX Gripping Primer is $38 for 1oz while NYX Bare With Me Hydrating Jelly Primer is $17.00 for 1.41oz. Both of these primers have very similar claims - both are gripping primers that have a jelly texture that creates a glass-like finish and grips your makeup for long wear. I totally agree that both products do as they claim. Component wise these are not similar. Cover FX is in more of a user-friendly packaging with its squeeze tube and NYX is in jar form. It’s not a deal-breaker but it’s kind an unsanitary packaging idea. NYX literally is like jelly. It’s quite thick but easy to blend out. Cover FX is much thinner in consistency. A little goes a long way for both of these brands. I am combo skin - dry perimeter and oily T. Despite NYX being marketed as a hydrating primer it didn’t make my t-zone an oil slick by the end of the day. I did set with powder after use. Both of these formulas are quite tacky after application which is where the ‘gripping’ portion of their product claims come into play. I think NYX was a bit tackier than Cover FX. I have some mild texture on my chin and large pores near my nose and both brands did a good job with smoothing everything out. I applied both brands with a patting motion rather than rubbing the primer in and I think I got better results this way, especially near my problem areas that I wanted pore filling. Both brands meshed with my foundations well and did help with the longevity of my makeup. I think NYX is a fantastic dupe for Cover FX. Both brands worked really well for me.
