I compared the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation $38 1FL Oz (Shade 22N light neutral) to the Maybelline Dream Urban Cover $12.99 (Shade Natural Ivory). The packaging for the Tarte foundation is very luxurious! It's a nice heavy glass with a dropper to dispense the product. The texture is very thin and moves around easily which is nice for blending seamlessly with a brush, sponge, or even your hands. I loved the natural finish when it was first applied but once it dried down it looked very matte and seemed to settle into my fine lines and cling to any dry areas. I was also very disappointed with how fast it started breaking apart even when I used a very reliable primer. When I wore the Tarte I noticed that by the end of the day it felt very heavy and looked greasy. The Maybelline foundation comes in a tube and you squeeze the product out. I found that this product applies the best with a sponge and the finish is very natural looking and felt comfortable. The coverage is buildable and lasted a decent amount of time but when it wore off it broke apart in several spots. The bottom line, I would save money and go with the Maybelline foundation. It wore better and felt more comfortable.
CONCLUSION Noticeable differences.
