Kayla says: Kat Von D Lock It is $36 for 1 oz & L'ORÉAL Infallible Total Cover is $12.99 for 1 oz. Kat Von D has a larger shade range compared to L'ORÉAL. I have combo dry skin with some redness and some acne scars. I personally don't like a lot of full coverage foundations because I feel like they always look cakey on me. Kat Von D is very thick in consistency with a very potent paint smell. I really didn't care for it at all. It covered all of my blemishes once I got it to blend out but it made my face look very cakey despite using very little - it also settled into my fine lines. The coverage and lasting power are there in this foundation but I do not like the cake like finish it had on my skin. L'ORÉAL is not nearly as thick as Kat Von D's formula. It's much easier to blend out, feels light on the skin and covered most of my blemishes - I did use very little as a little does go a long way. I did two light applications to get the coverage that I wanted. Once set my face didn't look cakey at all. It looked like real skin even though I had the foundation on. I wouldn't say it the had the exact same coverage as Kat Von D but in order to get that coverage, I really think it's hard not to look cakey. At least in my personal experience. I wore this foundation for 8 hours and it did settle into my smile lines a little and some of it started coming off of my nose but I really liked the coverage of it and how light it felt. Personally, I would use L'ORÉAL over Kat Von D but I think this is just a matter of preference here. If you're a long time fan of KVD and have yet to try L'ORÉAL - It may be worth giving it a shot to see if you like it. It may save you some coin if you do!
