(In case you don't know: Brandefy rates name brands (i.e. Procativ) against their store brand counterparts (i.e. Equate Beauty) to tell you whether or not the off brand is as good as the name brand, and to warn you when it is not. We compare the product by doing an ingredient analysis and consumer sensory testing, the results of which we plug into our similarity algorithm.)
These products have similar ingredient panels and behave similarly. They have the exact same Active Ingredients, so they should have a very similar effect on acne. Consumers stated that main difference they noted for each product are the following:
- Renewing Cleanser: Proactiv is much more gritty than Equate. Gave it an 80% similarity score.
- Revitalizing Toner: The smell on this was the most significant difference. Proactiv is more floral, but Equate's isn't offensive. It earned an 80% similarity score despite the difference in smell.
- Repairing Lotion/Treatment: The consistency is significantly different. Equate's is much thinner, but the feel once it dries on your face is very similar. Also, the top fell off the packaging on this one the first time, but not on the second use, which could be a little annoying. We gave this the lowest scare of the 3, at 70%.
